China Milk Scandal Firm Asked For Cover-up Help

According to an article in the China Digital Times entitled, “China Milk Scandal Firm Asked For Cover-up Help“, the Sanlu Group obtained the silence of a local government for a month in reporting the tainted milk products while the Olympics were held. According to the Washington Post:
“Please can the government increase control and coordination of the media, to create a good environment for the recall of the company’s problem products,” the People’s Daily cited the letter from Sanlu as saying.”
The sickness and loss of life that would have been prevented was worth the bad news and embarrassment during the 2008 Olympiad. The welfare of the people should come before the perceived need for good publicity.
