The Demise of Florida Splendid China – part 17

The commemoration of the 47th anniversary of the takeover of Eastern Turkestan was held at the main gate of Florida Splendid China on October 13, 1996.
The night before we had already found a bus with diplomatic plates, but we confined our demonstration to publicly available areas the next day.

As had happened sometimes before, Splendid China security called the Osceola Sheriff’s department on us. After a few visits, they did recognize our right to be on public sidewalks and to hold signs, banners and shout slogans; although they did swing back through the area from time to time to see if we were still there.
